We are extremely proud to be associated with one of the leading high-performance engine builders in the racing industry. Steve Schmidt Competition Engines, located in Indianapolis, has been in business over 30 years and offers a full one-year warranty on their normally-aspirated powerplants. KillerRONS.COM's James Monroe began doing work for SSCE customers in 2007 by aiding in the dyno tuning of Ron's Fuel Injection Systems on various customer engines. As SSCE began to see favorable results with these units the relationship began to grow to the point where Monroe was commonly spending a scheduled work day each week on the dyno. This allowed much transfer of information from Monroe to the engine builders and visa versa. Today most of the engine combinations that SSCE offers can be outfitted and dyno-tuned and ready for shipment with a mechanically-injected Ron's Fuel Injection unit. If you are interested in an engine from Steve Schmidt Competition Engines please click on the logo above or call 800-957-7223. When calling please ask for Phil Love in the sales department or engine builder Adam Layman. Layman has specific information you need to know about a new engine and its proper build for methanol for maximum power. Monroe had one of his most successful seasons to date in 2008 when using the Steve Schmidt Competition Engines 584" 24 Degree Special Edition in his Super Quick/Top Dragster. This was one of the first engines anywhere to dyno over 1100 HP with a conventional cylinder head design and today's version approaches 1150 HP. Monroe recorded best times of 4.44 @155 MPH in the 1/8 mile and 6.99 at 191+ MPH in his dragster and won the 2008 JEG'S Super Quick Series championship with this combination. This engine is outlined below with options that have made it one of the most popular engines sold at Steve Schmidt Competition Engines.
Engine Completely *Includes a One (1) Year Warranty. Dart Block, Big cam core, .904 Lifter with bronze lifter bushings. This combination has a welded and ported sniper intake manifold. The most powerful short deck conventional head engine on the market. • Dart Block • BMF / Schmidt 24° Ported 360 Heads In 2009 Monroe opted to go with an all-aluminum 12* Pro-Filer 585" engine. There were two basic reasons for this move. Number one being the common belief that spreadport engine will not work with methanol and secondly more ET and MPH were needed for NHRA Top Dragster competition. These criteria were met in the very first race as Monroe qualified at the Indy divisional with a 6.80 @ 196+ MPH with no nitrous and went on to win event. Monroe went on to also win a JEG'S Super Quick Series event in July and finish a close 2nd in the series standings with another final round appearance in Indy. Monroe is shown below with Steve Schmidt at the completion of Monroe's most recent engine. |
